Good afternoon Titans,

We added yet another win to our record this weekend in our dual meet against Seneca Valley! Great job to everyone that competed, and a huge thanks to all of the volunteers that kept the meet running smoothly. We had many big swims and dives for our team, with several athletes qualifying for post-season meets, and many more athletes posting season bests and trying new events!

Buckle up, because this week's email is long. Please make sure to carefully read every item, particularly seniors. 

1. This week's meet is against Clarksburg at Gaithersburg Aquatic Center (GAC) @9:15. Please arrive by 9. Be sure to declare your availability for the meet by tonight!

2. Re-establishing expectations: All athletes are expected and required to attend both practices every week. Athletes whose club practice schedule conflicts with our practice times can communicate on an individual basis about our practices, but are still expected to attend one practice per week. In order to compete at meets, you must attend practice, attend your classes, and achieve passing grades in classes. Drylands are not required workouts, but are hosted to offer an additional opportunity for a workout. I would love to see a better turnout at the drylands, as we typically only have between 5-10 people come out. Next week and the week after we do not have school on Monday, so we will be hosting drylands on Tuesday instead. 

3. Our senior meet will be Saturday, January 24th. We are very excited to recognize our seniors and their contributions to the team! Parents- if you are interested in helping to coordinate senior activities, please reach out to me or Dayna Brown (parent rep). 

4. Saturday, January 24th is our last dual meet of the season. The rest of the scheduled season meets are considered championship post-season meets with limited entries. These include divisionals, metros, regionals and states. I have just added these events to the calendar on swimtopia, so you should be able to view them. For this week and next week's meets, if your athletes would like to try and qualify for a specific event at one of these meets, please reach out to me directly. 

5. I wanted to also highlight some details about Metros. This meet is a unique opportunity for swimmers and divers to compete with both public school and private school students from across the DMV. The meet is generally regarded as one of the most exciting parts of high school swimming. Metros championships have qualifying time standards, as well as preliminaries and finals for each event. The qualifying times from 2025 for Metros are below. We do not yet have the updated meet info for Metros, so more to come on that soon.
